Roberto Barros is an award-winning Brazilian guitarist, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and music educator with more than three decades of experience in the music industry.

Recognized for his technical precision, musical versatility, and expressive playing, Barros has built an international career encompassing worldwide touring, studio recordings, composition, music production, orchestral performances, and advanced instrumental research.

His achievements include being voted Best Brazilian Guitarist of 2021 by readers of Roadie Crew magazine, following three consecutive second-place finishes in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

He has also appeared twice on the cover of Guitarload magazine, in July 2021 and September 2026, and has established an international partnership with Australian guitar manufacturer Ormsby Guitars, which led to the launch of his signature guitar line, the Roberto Barros Cyborg Goliath.

Musical Background and Education

Roberto began his formal musical education at the age of 17 at EM&T (Escola de Música e Tecnologia), in São Paulo, Brazil.

He subsequently completed four years of professional guitar studies at IG&T (Institute of Guitar & Technology), graduating in 2005 and pursuing advanced postgraduate specialization in Jazz and Fusion Guitar.

In 2004, he also entered Souza Lima Berklee, where he continued his musical development, studying with jazz guitarist Pollaco.

His academic background additionally includes LEM (Linguagem e Estruturação Musical), an advanced program covering melodic and harmonic sight-reading, ear training, harmony, musical structure, and counterpoint.

One of the most significant periods of his musical development involved five years of intensive guitar studies with renowned Brazilian guitarist and educator Mozart Mello.

International Career with Edu Falaschi

In 2017, Roberto joined the solo band of Edu Falaschi, former lead vocalist of the internationally recognized Brazilian metal band Angra.

During his eight-year tenure, from 2017 to 2025, Roberto worked as a guitarist, composer, arranger, and producer, participating in extensive international tours throughout Brazil, Europe, Japan, Mexico, and other parts of Latin America.

His recording and performance credits include The Glory of the Sacred Truth, Temple of Shadows in Concert, Vera Cruz, Eldorado, and Vera Cruz: Live in São Paulo.

In 2021, Roberto played an important role in the creation of Vera Cruz, Edu Falaschi’s debut solo studio album. In addition to recording guitars, he served as co-producer and arranger alongside Falaschi.

He also co-wrote three compositions: “Face of the Storm,” “Land Ahoy,” and “The Ancestry.”

Vera Cruz was subsequently voted Best Brazilian Album of 2021 by readers of Roadie Crew magazine.

In 2023, Roberto continued his collaboration with Falaschi on Eldorado, contributing as a guitarist and producer before participating in the album’s international touring cycle.

In March 2025, after nearly eight years with the project, Roberto announced his departure to focus on his own instrumental compositions, advanced musical studies, and independent artistic endeavors.

Collaboration with Maestro João Carlos Martins

One of the significant milestones of Roberto’s career came in June 2019, when he performed as a violin soloist alongside internationally renowned Brazilian conductor and pianist Maestro João Carlos Martins and the Bachiana Filarmônica SESI-SP Orchestra at the historic Theatro Municipal de São Paulo.

He also participated as a guitarist in Edu Falaschi’s Temple of Shadows in Concert, recorded in 2019 and released in 2020, which featured Maestro João Carlos Martins and his orchestra.

These collaborations brought together Roberto’s background in contemporary instrumental performance with classical music and large-scale orchestral productions, demonstrating his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist.
